2020 CPA Conference: But Who Do You Say That I Am?: Implications of Attachment Assessment on Formation of Seminarians/Religious
Length: 1.5 Hours

Attachment-related internal working models of close relationships help to understand the relational dynamics of an individual with respect to both human and spiritual attachment figures. A psycho-spiritual, assessment model will be presented which incorporates self-report and implicit measures. The currently under development Holy Trinity and Mary Drawings (HTMD) will be introduced.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how “internal working models” of attachment can shape implicit experiences of close human and spiritual relationships.
  • Describe various ways that the level of one’s attachment security can impact psychological and spiritual functioning as well as distress management.
  • Identify and describe numerous self-report and implicit attachment measures that are useful in assessing psycho-spiritual functioning in religious and seminarian candidates.
