Jesus-Centered Schema Therapy & Virtue-based Theology of the Body. On Demand

Target Audience: Students, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists.

Course Level: Beginner

Learning Objectives:

Presentation addresses the special population of Judeo-Christian clients whose needs often require sensitivity to their culture & religion and with whom there are manifested particular patterns of emotional disorders.   It involves an overview of centering psychotherapy on Jesus, and the robustness of Schema Therapy to contain a Catholic Christian & Judeo anthropology and set of interventions.  JC-ST is not a stand-alone therapy, but an application of standard Schema Therapy according to the values and beliefs of primarily the Christian-client population. Clinical vignettes illustrate the alignment of the Theology of the Body with development of specific Christian virtues. These develop in the context of personal growth & schema healing and are integrated within the entire client conceptualization.  Such conceptualization encompasses presenting problems with their roots in schema traps and mode origins together with their concomitant marital cycles.  Jesus-Centered Chair dialogues, guided imagery and Lectio Divina encounter with Scripture interventions are described.
