Application of the Negative Dyadic Interaction Cycle for Reducing Conflict in Relationships. On Demand

Target Audience: Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Pastoral Ministers

Course Level: Intermediate

Learning Objectives:

Many Catholic counselors, therapists, and pastoral ministers often find working with couples, families, or individuals whom struggle in relationships, to be precarious and sometimes difficult. The human brokenness of each person is being made manifest within their relationship(s), eroding the quality of communicating and relating.

During this workshop participants will be introduced to a framework that aids in identifying the Negative Dyadic Interactive Cycle(s) between two people. The Presenter will discuss components of psychodynamic conflict, while conjoining their individual woundedness onto a Negative Dyadic Interactive Cycle map.

A case example will be used to demonstrate how to populate a Negative Dyadic Interactive Cycle map. A practical application of how the map may be used to illuminate EMDR Therapy treatment planning, will also be provided.

The purpose of this workshop is to give participants an aid for gathering data and finding a starting point for reducing cyclical conflict.
