The Role of Psychology in the Human Formation of Seminarians for Spiritual Fatherhood. On Demand

The newest edition of the Program of Priestly Formation (PPF) offers an excellent opportunity to consider the important contribution of psychological professionals to seminary formation to ensure enduring vocations and mature, healthy ministers for the Church. This presentation will focus on human formation of seminarians for spiritual fatherhood. While the PPF outlines various human formation norms, goals, and benchmarks for the development of priestly identity, professional input is necessary to assist seminary formators in this important endeavor. This workshop, consisting of lecture and case examples, is designed to help psychological professionals:

  1. Summarize those human qualities essential for the development of spiritual fatherhood,
  2. Describe the role of the psychological professional in supporting the human formation process in a Catholic seminary environment
  3. Discuss case examples of seminary formation scenarios relevant to the newly promulgated PPF.
