to their own self-care as mental health professionals as well as to the self-care of their clientele.

Description: 
Environmental Psychology examines the interaction between persons and built or natural environments. This presentation focuses on the psychological impact of natural environments on the individual and discusses two theories within the discipline: Attention Restoration Theory and Stress Recovery Theory. Relevant research applicable to natural environments and the self-care of the mental health professional will be discussed and practical strategies will be offered. The presentation will also focus on advocating for the use of natural environments in the promotion of client self-care. Throughout the presentation, the presenter will highlight insights from scripture, the lives of the saints, and papal teaching.

Jared Zeringue is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Louisiana. He is the Director of Counseling Services at St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana and he operates a small private practice in Covington, Louisiana. Jared's areas of focus include leisure development, depth psychotherapy, dreams, ethical issues in psychotherapy, trauma, sexual compulsions, and environmental psychology. Jared is a member of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association Ethics Committee and has collaborated with other members on the drafting of the CPA Code of Ethics and responding to ethics consults.
