David A. Kahn, PhD, LPC, LPC/S is the founder, President and owner of The Counseling Center of Florence, LLC. With more than 30 years of experience providing counseling services for adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing relationship conflict, blended family issues, substance use disorder issues, depression, anxiety, work and social-related issues. Dr. Kahn offers a range of techniques and methods appropriate for each client’s individual needs, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, family-systems therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques among others.

 

Dr. Kahn provides professional seminars and workshops for the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services and other Mental Health Professionals and employee training for area businesses. He travels nationwide to provide trainings and workshops for professional counselors as well as corporate entities interested in improving employee mental health, safety, and satisfaction. Dr. Kahn is committed to helping new counselors develop their skills and professional identity through supervision of licensed professional counselor associates and supervisor in training candidates.

 

Dr. Kahn’s professional experience includes an array of counseling and educational venues. Dr. Kahn has served as an adjunct professor at Webster University, Myrtle Beach Campus and formerly an adjunct instructor for Francis Marion University in the Psychology Department. He served as the Director for Counseling Services for Francis Marion University, has experience with in-patient treatment facilities, and is a former vocational counselor and school guidance counselor.

 

He holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Agency Counseling from the North Carolina A&T University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from Western Carolina University as well as a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Saint Leo University.  He is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor.

 

Dr. Kahn is the past president of the South Carolina Clinical Mental Health Counselors Association, a state affiliate chapter of the American Mental Health Counselor Association.
