This workshop will teach participants the role and function of assessment strategies in the evaluation, treatment planning and intervention of Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) in the Catholic seminarian and clergy population. An overview of instruments and qualitative approaches that are effective with this population will also be discussed. The role of shame and/versus moral incongruence will explored.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify major screening instruments available for assessing PSB in the religious population (seminarian and priest)
  • Translate assessment data into appropriate treatment planning goals.
  • Identify the role of shame and moral incongruence in the assessment and treatment of seminarians and priests.
  • Address/evaluate tools and resources helpful with this special population.
