Description:
This is the third of four independent modules of Level 1 of the CPA's new Certificate in Catholic Psychotherapy Integration (CCPI). Module Three equips Catholic clinicians with a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between mental health, trauma, spirituality, and addiction. Participants will learn to distinguish between OCD, particularly scrupulosity, and genuine spiritual concerns using diagnostic criteria and evidence-based approaches. The workshop will explore the profound psychological and spiritual impacts of trauma and spiritual abuse, offering faith-sensitive interventions for healing. Attendees will also identify and address spiritual bypass in therapy, fostering authentic emotional and spiritual integration. Finally, the workshop will delve into the dynamics of addiction, betrayal trauma, and shame, with a focus on their relationship to spirituality in a Catholic context. Through practical tools, case studies, and ethical discussions, this workshop provides actionable insights for faith-aligned therapeutic care.
Note: Modules 1 and 2 are prerequisites for attendance.
The CCPI is a three-level series, of which CCPI Level 1: Initial Foundations is comprised of four modules that must be taken in sequence. Each module will present live and, following, be in our On-demand library prior to the next module. At the completion of each Level, a Certificate will document the incremental completion as well as the completion of all Levels.
