Society of St. Sulpice

Fr. Burnham has been a member of the US Province, Society of St. Sulpice since 2011. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from the Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care Department of Loyola University Maryland in May 2019. His dissertation was titled: Conceptualizing and Measuring Clericalism in Roman Catholic Priests.

Fr. Burnham began his Sulpician ministry as a member of the formation team at Theological College in Washington, D.C. He was a spiritual director, formation advisor, and director of the Pastoral Formation Program. In addition to his formation responsibilities at Theological College, he taught in the School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America. After 3 years of teaching and formation work at Theological College, Fr. Burnham left for doctoral studies at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.

As a native of Baltimore, Maryland, Fr. Burnham is a priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He has been both an associate pastor and pastor of parishes throughout the archdiocese. Prior to his seminary formation at St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Fr. Burnham received his master’s degree in counseling psychology from Loyola University Maryland. He worked for 6 years in the Child and Family Psychiatry Department of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Fr. Burnham is currently a licensed professional counselor in the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the State of Texas.

Fr. Burnham currently serves on the formation faculty of Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas, where he is Vice Rector and Coordinator of Human Formation for the seminary. He engages in work as a formator and spiritual director while continuing to see clients in his private practice. He also serves as Second Consultor on the provincial leadership team for the Society of St. Sulpice, U.S. Province.
