Description:
Professional boundary concerns are consequential for all helping professions, but can be especially difficult to navigate for clergy, where maintaining their professional role across settings and navigating dual relationships with parishioners and staff is often required. If boundary concerns do arise, it can be difficult to determine what interventions may be most helpful to ensure that all boundary concerns are addressed, while providing individualized care to the clergy member. This presentation will provide an overview of professional boundary concerns, including differentiating between boundary crossings and violations, unique factors regarding treatment of professionals, and relevant treatment and return to work considerations.
